APRIL’S BEST TRAVEL TIPS

  • April in The Netherlands is all about tulips and enjoying the first days of warm weather. The outdoor terraces will start to fill up with Dutchies that are enjoying their first witbiers (white/wheat beers) and bitterballen of the year.

  • Easter marks the start of the festival season with a great festival at the NDSM Werf in Amsterdam - DGTL.

  • Holland has always been known for its tulips, and April is the month to come and see them. You can see endless fields of beautiful colors while driving along the roads, or you can choose to go and see the spectacular flower displays at Keukenhof. If you go to Keukenhof, be sure to arrange tickets in advance and expect a crowd. This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Holland.

  • For a less busy alternative to Keukenhof you can also cycle through tulips fields around Keukenhof and Lisse.

  • Kings Day is a celebration of the Kings birthday (King Willem Alexander) and is a day filled with music, beer and orange. Truly one of the best days to visit The Netherlands. Don’t plan any museum visits or big travels on this day as almost everything is closed and public transport is limited. And remember to dress in orange like all locals (no exceptions).

Some big events in The Netherlands in April 2020 are:

    • Kings Day - 27th of April (every year)

    • Keukenhof - 20th of March till 10th of May - Spectacular outdoor flower displays. Be sure to get tickets up front.
